Cute is What We Aim For's sophomore release, "Rotation", defines what a sophomore slump really is. I can honestly relate it back to my sophomore year of high school, good not great.
Lead singer, Shaant, still wows audiences with his gift of one liners, but something isnt quite the same. It seems as if the band tried too hard to create a number one album, and in doing so bastardized their amazing debut album "The Same Old Blood Rush With a New Touch".
The first single, "Practice Makes Perfect", is very melodic, but hard to sing along with, which is one of the things that made Blood Rush such a great album. This isnt to say there arent any great anthems on "Rotation" though. The song "Loser" is sure to be become an audience favorite because of the use of catchy hooks and an easy chorus, which brings you back to the age of "Curse of Curves".
Overall, the album has some good stuff, and it is a must have for Cute fans everywhere. However, for the moderate fan and pop punk conniseur, this may be the kind of album that you just want to torrent instead of paying
